Demonstrate strong investigative skills, attention to detail, and sufficient knowledge of Animal Control Bylaws.
Perform investigative and regulatory work, patrolling City of Vancouver parks and public spaces.
Educate the public about the Vancouver Charter concerning Animal Control By-law 9150 and ensure public safety.
Respond to and investigate complaints, impound and transport stray animals.
Handle the storage and identification of deceased animals.
Issue AC Warning Notices and tickets (By-law Violation Notices).
Assist with collecting evidence and statements for investigations.
Maintain a detailed and professional notebook.
May be required to attend court proceedings.
Ensure all vehicles and equipment are fully functional, clean, and stocked.
Handle potentially dangerous animals responsibly.
Work evenings and weekends.
Capable of patrolling parks, beaches, and city streets by foot, bike, and vehicle during operational hours, including limited daylight.
Report to Animal Control Supervisors.
